Pieced back pieces cut - only a quilter would know what that means! Ha ha. I spent part of the weekend cutting 8-1/2 x 10-1/2 pieces of solid colored fabric to make a pieced back for the graduation quilt. I changed my mind about doing it in squares because I had a lot of fat quarters that would work and if I cut squares there would be too much waste. I also had a lot of quarter yard cuts from Miller's Dry Goods in Arthur that would work with that measurement. I have all the pieces cut and am really going to try and get some sewing done tonight. Daughter is working but I'm not sure what Son is doing. He's usually not to interested in what Mom is up to, so even if he's hanging out at home, as long as there is food within his reach he's pretty self sufficient...Teenagers, gotta love 'em.
One of the reasons I was able to get so much fabric cut was that I brought a card table down from my sewing room and did the cutting while watching the Cubs play ball. My husband usually growls when sewing stuff migrates out of the sewing room, but I assured him it was going to be put away and he kept the peace. I did put things away, just so he wouldn't get grouchy.
Another reason the cutting wasn't such a big deal was that I used that new ergonomically correct cutter. That is such a life saver! My wrist wasn't sore at all! Now, if only someone could invent a way to make ironing fun....
