Turkey-ed Out

I am done with turkey for a while.  Ordering a pizza tonight!

Worked on these guys today. Mary and I had a long distance sewing session.  We were on the phone while we worked on our projects.  She worked on some quilt as you go squares and I made these lottery card holders.  Easy peasy to do.  Mary found a website that had the idea on it and I just kind of ran with it.  Mine are different sizes for different size lottery tickets.  They are Christmas material with fusible stabilizer sandwiched between the layers.  They are sewn up the sides and I have double stick tape on them to seal them closed.

These are going to go into the 'saran wrap' ball for the game we play on Christmas.  I wanted them to be able to seal shut because I want to add an element to the game.  At the end, without having looked in the holders, going to see if anyone wants to do any trading.  I might put some cash in a few, just to mix it up!

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  We just stayed home.  The kids came over for dinner.  Lots of food and lots of leftovers...sigh.

Good Day Today

Since I have been working from home, every day has been a good day.  I do need a new desk chair, however.  My back has been hurting from sitting in this old wooden kitchen chair.  I have a few options and will be making a decision this week on what chair I want for at my desk.  This has been an ongoing saga for a couple months - finding the right chair.  I have it narrowed down to 3.

So over the weekend I got up in the middle of the night to sleep in the recliner/loveseat (because my back hurt).  About 7:30 in the morning I hear Bess meowing pretty loud.  I was almost certain she was in the basement so I couldn't figure out why she was so loud.  She kept at it, and I realized the sound was coming from behind me, on the OTHER SIDE OF THE WINDOW!  Somehow that little stinker snuck out of the house when one of us was letting the dog out or in and ended up spending the night outside!  It was windy and rainy that night, so I am hoping she learned her lesson, although I doubt it.

A couple weeks ago I broke down and bought one of those wool pressing mats when they were on sale.  I am liking it quite a bit.  It's just the right size for pressing blocks.  Anything that makes pressing a little less of a drudgery is good in my book.

Ev was in the mood for ham and beans Saturday night.  I had a big container in the freezer so I just got them out for him.  I had cream of wheat.  It's become my new/old favorite.  Used to eat it all the time as a kid.  Funny, I like cream of wheat, but don't like grits.

Last night we had a pot roast with carrots and onions cooked in with it.  Johanna came by for a bit and I sent some home with her.  She was in hog heaven!  lol.  Her and Johnathon had some of it over rice.  Tonight I think I will make a few chicken legs.  Might bbq them.  Not sure yet.

Pretty violet

When I left my old office I btought home several plants.  This violet was one I started from a cutting.  My Great Grandma used to grow them.

During the summer months I had lots of house plants outside but had to bring them in. Finding somewhere safe from Bess has proved a challenge!

I'll take the scraps

I was the lucky recipient of two boxes of quilting scraps! My Stepmother's sister decided that she was no longer going to quilt and gifted me them. They are not exactly my color palette but I am not picky!

Current Project

This is my current project.  It was supposed to be a smaller wall hanging, but it turned out to be a large wall hanging!  Not sure you can tell, but it spells out the word LOVE, with the heart being the O.  I saw something similar on Pinterest and adapted it to my own liking.  I just made it too big!  Have to put border on it and quilt it, then I have an idea of where to hang it.

In August, while working from home (temporatiley) for a job I had almost 20 years, I was able to get a new, permanently remote, job working from home.  My former job was going to require me to go back to an office and interact with the public on a daily basis.  The new job is going great, and I have a nice little area set up as my office just off the kitchen.  There is a window and a section of wall that this mini quilt would look nice.  I bought a new desk, and have settled in nicely.  It is a huge blessing to be home with Ev, especially now.

Joe Biden is President Elect

Thank God.  I can finally exhale.
