Why do people steal?

I don't get it.  Why would anyone steal a quilt?  How could you sleep under something every night knowing that you didn't come by it honestly?  Here's a link describing the most recent missing item:  http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2012/02/help-get-word-outanother-stolen-quilt.html  I really hope it turns up soon.
