Puppy Love

I know, I know, Miss Addy is far from being a puppy but she is always going to be one to me.  My sweet doggy is 9 years old.  She sure doesn't act like it, which is a good thing.

Smoky

Can you see the hazy smoke?  It is from the wild fires in Canada. This is in South Central Illinois.

Time To Sew

I had time to work on the wolf quilt today.  The center panel was a challenge but it is now completed. I have less than half to quilt now. Feels pretty good! 

A Tisket A Tasket A Very Tiny Basket

 

I visited with two dear friends uesterday.  I made each of them a small trinket basket.  They were only a few inches across and an inch high.  

Princess Shadow

 

Yeah, my cat thinks she is royalty.  I woke up with my hand under the cat, so who knows at what point she laid down on it.  Shadow likes to spend her days sitting next to me while I work.  Every so often she will reach out a paw to let me know she is there and wants a nice scratch under the chin.

Surprise Gift

 

Yesterday we received a sweet surprise when we picked up our order at Wal Mart.  They were giving each person who ordered pick up a tumbler full of snacks.  Oh, and a fishing bobber.  LOL.  Don't they know I'm off sweets right now?  haha

Making a pot of chili for supper.  We had Taco Tuesday yesterday, so that means it is Chili Wednesday today.  I like to use up the leftover taco meat in chili.  Ev wanted it to be spicy hot, but I might have gone overboard with the pepper flakes.  OHHH DOGGGGGGYYYY is it hot! :)

On a serious note, please send up a prayer for the people trapped in the submarine.

I would have had to climb on top of the garage roof to get this picture to show the Cubs flag writing in the correct direction, but I think it is pretty obvious we are Cub fans here! 

Yesterday I had a day off work (Summer Hours) so I quilted on Gemma for a while.  The Wolf quilt is coming along nicely.  I am about half way through it, with the center panel being the next part I will quilt.  

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there.  We had the kids over and cooked out on the grill.  Made steaks and burgers and hot dogs on the grill, plus a whole lot of other sides.  Devilled eggs, macaroni salad, cole slaw, corn on the cob, green bean casserole, baked beans, fruit salad, angel food cake, cool whip...  yeah, i fell off the diet wagon.  Will be right back up on it tomorrow, hopefully.  Worked to hard to get where I am to go backwards now.

Saturday Night

Ev and I are just enjoying a nice quiet evening tonight.  We picked up a pizza for dinner.  I had been running errands and cooking all day, and He had been working outside.

I'm still cooking, in fact.  Have a pot of beans on the stove simmering away.  They are for tomorrow.  We are having the kids over and grilling out.  I made macaroni salad and devilled eggs earlier.  When the beans are done for the night, so am I!  

See this cabinet?  It was an entertainment center in a former life.  Johanna put a full back on it and took out the insides, then created shelves for me.  It now stands in my kitchen as a pantry.  I love it!!!!!

Is it Mushmellon or Canteloup?

So what do you call this sweet summer melon?  We called it mushmelon or muskmelon when I was growing up.  Now we call it canteloup.  

Tomorrow is Friday and I am so ready for the workweek to be over.  Going to have the kids over this weekend for a bbq on Father's Day.  I want to get the shopping done for it tomorrow after work or early Saturday morning.  Planning to have burgers and steaks.

Good Lunch

I was trying to behave today and made myself a lunch one of my grandma's used to make.  Onions, mushrooms, spinach and eggs.  Tasty and low fat.

2 cats and a dog

We have always been lucky that none of our animals guarded their food.  Here is all 3 of the pets eating out of the same dish.  Cracks me up.

Quilting Time

I have made a couple turns on the quilt frame. Slow going but making progress.  I still have trouble deciding how to quilt the animals.  Just doing the best I can.

Making a pot of chili. Think we will have chili cheese dogs or maybe chili 3 ways for dinner.

I should Have Sewn

Today was a lazy rainy day.  I did get to the grocery store to pick things up.  We had tacos for dinner.  I also made a big fruit salad.

This would have been a good day to sew but I started reading a book and just enjoyed curling up on the couch.

Home

Just got home from a quick trip to see family.  Ready to sleep in my own bed.  Had a great time.

Feel Lucky?

So one of the local organiations in town holds a 'Queen of Hearts" drawing on Friday nights.  We don't always buy tickets for it, but the pot is pretty high and we were home, so we bought a few tickets.  I'm heading out to the drawing shortly.  

Tomorrow we are planning a quick trip north to see family.  I am so fortunate to still have my parents and family.  

Zip Clip

See my little frog?  I was looking for something in the sewing room and came across this zip clip.  No idea where I got it, but he makes a cute addition to the keyboard bag, don't you think?

Finally Rain

We finally had some rain this morning.  The grass has really been drying up and Ev has been having kittens over it.  We had a nice soaker all morning.  That should help get everything greened up again.

Yesterday was day one of my 10 hour days at work for the summer.  It wasn't real bad and I kept busy all day.  And I sure slept good last night!

Since we bought the new gas grill, I have been trying different things on it.  Last night I made some bbq pork chops.  They were nice and tender.  The only thing we haven't really figured out yet is how to burn the bbq sauce on to stuff without ruining the meat.  Trial and error, I guess.

Tonight we have to drop the car off at the shop.  We think it might need suspension work.  That won't be cheap...  ah well...

It Starts...

Over the weekend I loaded my wolf quilt on Gemma. Today is the start of my Summer hours so I am off all day.  Thought this would be a good time to work on the longarm.

The last quilt I had on the frame had an accident and I did not finish it.  Bess did a real number on it and I had to cut it up and throw a good chunk away.  We have since put her on medication, and have not had any more problems.  Hoping it stays that way.  Yes, she peed on it, in case you were wondering...

Last night for dinner we had pizza.  I did not want to heat up the house, so we used the gas grill.  This was my pizza on the cast iron pizza pan.  They turned out very good and each one only took about 7 minutes!  Here is what Ev's looked like.

He likes a LOT of pepperoni on his pizza...  can you tell?

I went to the grocery store this morning and picked up a nice chuck roast for supper tonight.  Going to get that goinn soon.  I like to cook it in the dutch oven on top of the stove low and slow.

Zippered Bag

It is too hot to do much outside, so I went to the sewing room and made a little zippered pouch for the keyboard.  I made it big enough to hold the box it came in, so it had a little protection from bumps or getting dropped.  I quilted the outer fabric in just a few straight lines.

Made a trip to Wal Mart earlier.  Bought myself a couple new blouses.  They are in the wash now.  I needed something other than tee shirts to wear in the Summer.

Ev and I went to Johanna's in laws for a fish fry last night.  The fish was out of their ponds and caught by Johnathon and his grandpa.  It was really tasty.  I took a big fruit salad that was a hit, too.  There were some good looking bing cherries at the store and I added some to the salad.

New Toy

 

Last night, while scrolling through Pinterest, I saw an ad for a wireless keyboard that syncs to your phone.  I thought, wow that's pretty cool.  So this morning when I made my weekly trip to Wal Mart, I looked for one and found this little dude.  The guy in electronics (thanks Jon) was kind enough to open the box and check to see if it would sync to an Android device.  Lo and behold it does, and I am off an running!

Having to type on my phone to post was not convenient, especially for making blog posts.  Also, it required some effort to get pictures uploaded on the blog if I used the computer to post.  So, hopefully, this will encourage me to start posting again!
