In yesterday morning's post I mentioned that I was about ready to take Ivy to the vet. We thought she had gotten into it with some hornets. Unfortunately, the swelling was not from stings. Her lymph glands are swollen all over her body. The vet sent off samples to the lab, but from what she could see under the microscope, it doesn't look good.
My sweet dog is only 4 years old. She is, and always has been, very loved. We are not going to go to any extraordinary measures, but will keep her comfortable. The vet has put her on steroids which will hopefully take the swelling down and make her comfortable for a while. She also put her on antibiotics, with the slim hope that this is an infection. Should know something early next week.
*Update* The vet was very kind in pushing the lab to get test results quickly for us. They confirmed the worse fear. She has a very aggressive lymphoma. Fast moving. Ahhh, this is so lousy...

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear it. Our pets mean so much to us and for this one to be so young--the unexpected is even worse than when they get to old age. So sorry to hear it...we have a black lab who has most likely seen his last summer and have been preparing for that for a bit...sorry girl.
Oh no - I am so very sorry to hear that. Far too young for such a lovely dog - I am thinking of you all.
It is a grief so deep...I share your loss, for I know your grief has already begun. God Bless...

Hugs to you. I know this is so tough to go through. Just know that we are thinking of you and sending you hugs.
Oh, I am so sorry for poor Ivy and your family! How sad to have a young life cut even shorter!
Just got back from camping today and saw this. I am very sorry to hear about poor Ivy, very sad for you and your family. She is such a young dog, I know how hard this is for you. I had a beagle mix that this happened to, hard to go through. Hugs to you and Ivy. Take care.
