He was sitting on a tree branch above a creek when we happened to drive over a bridge. When I got out of the car to take his picture, he turned his head, so you can only see his left eye. This fellow was quite large. He took to the air for a brief flight to a tree branch a bit farther away from our prying eyes.
I have never seen an owl like this before. He really was quite a majestic creature.
*Note - I looked up pictures on the Audubon Society website of owls. Apparently this fellow is a Barred Owl. Pretty cool!
